This quick and easy recipe works well with both chicken
and pork. The sauce dates back to the 1950s when it was published
by the North Carolina Poultry Council. It's fantastic just
the way we show it here, or you can use it as a foundation
to create your own culinary masterpiece. Don't be deceived
by how easy it is. Once you try it, we think you'll agree
this sauce is just perfect for the grill.
Ingredients:
Lemon juice 1½ cups
Sugar
1 Tb.
Ketchup ½ cup
Red Pepper (ground) 1½ tsp.
Salt
2 tsp.
Vinegar 1 cup
Worcestershire
Sauce 1 Tb.
Butter/Margarine ¼ lb.
Melt butter or margarine.
Stir in ketchup. Add other
ingredients. Blend and simmer 4 to 5 minutes. Store in the
refrigerator if not using right away. Makes 1 quart.
Don't be shy - apply sauce liberally while
grilling. If you like to add sauce at the table, set some aside
in a separate container before you start grilling.
